Bio:
Nathan Acott is the Scientist in-charge of Immunohistochemistry at the Anatomical Pathology
Department, (QE2 Medical Centre site) of PathWest, the pathology arm of the Western Australian
Government’s Department of Health. He was previously in-charge of the immunohistochemistry
sections of both the PathWest, Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) and Fiona Stanley (FSH) sites. He is a
1994 graduate of Curtin University of Technology, completing the Bachelor of Science (Medical
Science) degree. He has been a Medical Scientist in Histopathology for over twenty years, working
both in private and public pathology, and has been involved in diagnostic immunohistochemistry for all
of this time. Nathan provides technical advice on clinical and research IHC assays to scientific and
clinical staff working within the PathWest Anatomical Pathology Department, as well as scientific and
clinical staff working at non-PathWest laboratories, individual researchers/research groups and
manages the day to day running of the IHC laboratory. Nathan is a committee member of the
Australasian Immunohistochemistry Society as well as a founder member of the International Society
for IHC and Molecular Morphology.
