Bio:
Dr. Brenn works as a Professor of Pathology and Dermatology and the Director of Dermatopathology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He graduated magna cum laude from the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he received his MD and PhD degrees. After postdoctoral fellowships in the Departments of Genetics and Pathology at Stanford University and residency training in anatomic pathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital he pursued subspecialty fellowships in dermatopathology, soft tissue tumor pathology and surgical pathology. In 2003, Dr. Brenn joined the faculty of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School and was a consultant in pathology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. From 2007 to 2018, he was Head of Dermatopathology at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and served as Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of Calgary from 2018 to 2023. His clinical and research interests are in the areas of cutaneous mesenchymal, adnexal and melanocytic tumor pathology. Dr. Brenn is an Associate Editor for Histopathology, Member and Rapporteur of the Consensus Group for the 4 th  edition and Member of the Expert Editor Panel for the 5 th  edition of the WHO Classification of Skin Tumors. He is the editor of the current Series 5 AFIP Atlas of Tumor Pathology on Non-melanocytic Tumors of the Skin and co-editor of the 4 th  and 5 th  editions of McKee’s Pathology of the Skin.
