Michael Buckland is Clinical Associate Professor in Pathology at the University of Sydney and the Head of the Department on Neuropathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He received his medical degree from the University of Sydney in 1993, and his PhD in Neurobiology from UNSW in 2000. He became Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2004, and was appointed head of the department of Neuropathology at Royal Prnce Alfred Hospital in 2009. Since then he has devoted his pathology expertise to matters of the brain. He is also co-Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia Brain Bank. His main research interests revolve around the molecular and cellular biology of adult primary brain tumours, and is also fascinated with immunological and degenerative diseases of the human central nervous system.
