Bio:
Professor Alfred Lam is a senior visiting specialist pathologist in Pathology Queensland and provides a referral consultancy service to Australia and overseas. He is also Head of Pathology in Griffith Medical School and Head of Cancer Research Center in Griffith Health Institute. Alfred has contributed to the development of pathology curriculum in a number of medical schools. Currently, he is the Assistant Chief Examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia. His central research focus is on molecular pathology of human cancers, particularly thyroid, head/neck/oral/esophageal, adrenal and colorectal cancers. A regularly invited speaker at international conferences, Alfred has also extensive collaborations with cancer centers in Asia-Pacific region. He is an invited author for the World Health Organization (WHO) book on endocrine tumor pathology. Also, he is the lead author for the thyroid cancer and adrenal cancer structural pathology reporting protocol for the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. In addition, he has produced over 250 peer-reviewed publications. The citation index of his publications (H index) is 38 which is an excellent indicator commensurate with his career stage. Professor Lam was the winner of the best senior researcher by Griffith University’s Vice Chancellor in 2011 and clinical researcher award of Australian society of medical research Queensland award in 2013.
